Year-round equipment is available for rent for experienced riders wishing to travel light.Kite trips are offered for the more experienced in the Emerald Sea: an epic journey to a magical lagoon with emerald green waters where a few fishermen, turtles and other stingrays will be your only companions for an unforgettable downwind.Superb waves are waiting for you at the end of this windward descent (for experienced riders), while fishermen take care of lunch. Grilled fish, coconut rice and cold drinks enjoyed on the beach of a small deserted islet, Suarez Islet, will help you to get upwind for the return trip.If you wish, it is also possible to organize a 2-day-1-night bivouac on this small islet, to take full advantage of the multiple sailing choices this spot offers.

I stayed in Mantasaly for a week with my wife. The purpose of our trip was to kitesurf but we also wanted to stay in a nice resort, so we decided to stay in the Mantasaly resort.
The hotel itself is really great. Everything is of high quality. The food is good and the interior decoration is really tasteful. The staff are very friendly and the owners make you feel welcome.
Most importantly, the best kitespot in the area is right in front of the hotel. The hotel has its own kitesurfing centre with kitesurf storage, cleaning station, etc. This hotel has been specially designed for luxury kitesurfing holidays. On the beach they have well trained beach boys who know how to rig, launch, land and pack the equipment properly. They are attentive and will quickly come to your aid if needed.
There are also plenty of places where you can sunbathe out of the wind, if you want a break from kitesurfing.
The water in the bay is flat at low tide and rough at high tide. There are nice waves on the reef. You can also leave the bay and kite to the next bay where there is a nice spot for calm water in front of the mangroves. It was windy 24/7 when we were there in late September/early October. The wind was maybe 20 knots at its lightest and 35 knots at its strongest. The wind was steady 70% of the time and gusty about 30% of the time. My wife used a 7 sqm depower and another 9 sqm (93 kg). The hotel also arranged a downwind for us in the emerald sea, which was really amazing. I highly recommend this place to anyone planning a kitesurfing trip.
