In the morning: a gentle, active start to the day
08:00 – A natural and soothing wake-up
You won’t find any shrill alarms here. Instead, it’s the soft light filtering through the pine trees and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee that gradually awaken your senses. The Villa comes to life slowly, in peace and quiet. The first smiles are exchanged in the garden, as you become aware of the beauty that surrounds you.
08.15 – Mobility and breathing exercises to get the day off to a good start
Before you even think about the waves, it’s essential to gently wake your body up. On the wooden terrace, you’ll take part in a 45-minute functional yoga session. Guided by our experienced instructor, you’ll explore poses that open up your hips and shoulders, whilst breathing in the fresh forest air. This session helps you loosen up your joints and clear your mind – a crucial aspect backed by sports physiology, which emphasises the importance of warming up to improve performance and prevent injuries[1].
09:00 – The surfers’ breakfast
The healthy buffet awaits you with carefully selected produce: homemade granola, fresh seasonal fruit, sourdough bread, organic eggs, almond butter and cold-pressed juices. Take the time to savour this balanced meal whilst discussing the day’s weather forecast and getting your kit ready. This quiet moment is essential for preparing your body for the exertion ahead, providing sustained energy without putting a strain on your digestion.
“The day always begins with looking after yourself. That’s essential if you’re to enjoy the ocean to the full.”
A surfing session: a total immersion in the ocean
10.30 am – Off to Casernes Beach
Everyone hops on their bikes – provided by the Villa – with their surfboards under their arms. The ride takes about fifteen minutes, along the cycle path shaded by the pine forest. Arriving at the dune on the unspoilt Casernes beach is a moment of pure tranquillity: the horizon suddenly opens up, and the ocean roars gently. This direct contact with nature is recognised by oceanography as a factor in mental and physical wellbeing[2].
11.00 am – The lesson in the water
The group of 5 to 8 people settles down on the beach with the instructor. After a quick theoretical briefing on the day’s currents and sandbanks, you’ll do a specific warm-up. Then it’s time to get out on the water. For two hours, you’ll ride wave after wave. The instructor will be right there with you, guiding you onto the best waves and helping you perfect your take-off. Laughter erupts after a memorable fall, and arms are raised to celebrate a successful ride. This continuous focus on technique, combined with the physical exertion, stimulates the release of endorphins and promotes an intense sense of well-being[3].
1.30 pm – Return to the Villa and a free afternoon
Back at the Villa, you rinse the sea salt off in the outdoor shower. The afternoon is entirely yours to spend as you wish. Some choose to have a restorative nap in the garden hammocks, whilst others set off by bike to explore Hossegor market or the Étang Noir nature reserve. This moment of total disconnection allows you to reconnect with yourself, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
As the day draws to a close: savour the magic of community
6.30 pm – Video analysis and informal debriefing
You’ll gather in the Villa’s large lounge to watch the footage from the morning session. The instructor will pause the video regularly to analyse your form and give you personalised advice. This is both an educational and enjoyable experience, as it helps you put your mistakes into perspective whilst making progress.
7.30 pm – Sunset drinks on the beach
This unmissable ritual on the Landes coast invites you to head back to the beach, a cold drink in hand, to watch the sun sink into the Atlantic. The sky glows with shades of pink and orange. It is often at this moment that deep bonds are forged between participants, creating a truly close-knit community.
“A sunset drinks party isn’t just a tradition; it’s the moment when the group becomes a real bunch of mates.”
8.30 pm – A convivial dinner at the villa
The large table is set in the garden or in the dining room, depending on the weather. Our chef, who is also a nutritional therapist, serves up a healthy, colourful and delicious meal, specially designed to replenish your muscles without weighing you down. Around the table, conversations flow as you share your experiences and go over the day’s session.
10.30 pm – A well-deserved rest
There are no late-night drinking sessions here that go on until dawn. You can feel the wholesome tiredness brought on by the ocean. You return to your room in a villa limited to 20 guests to ensure peace and quiet. The soothing silence of the forest takes over once more. Tomorrow, the ocean awaits you once again.
This rhythm, which alternates between intense exertion, reconnecting with nature and moments of warm camaraderie, is the secret behind the Surf & Yoga Hossegor experience. A week where every moment is designed to do you good, both physically and mentally. You’ve just discovered your upcoming programme – all that’s left is to enjoy it to the full!
