When to go to Tarifa
Alongside Fuerteventura in the Canaries and Dakhla in Morocco, Tarifa has been a leading destination for learning to kitesurf for many years, and one of the windiest places in the world: Tarifa, in the south of Spain. The Tarifa region is one of the most famous in Europe, thanks to the strength and statistics of the wind, the diversity of the spots and the kite industry that has developed there.
The best months for weather in Tarifa are March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December. On average, the hottest months are July, August and September. Droughts occur in June, July and August.

Mid season in Tarifa: February to April
Winter air and water temperatures in Tarifa are very favourable. If the French winter temperatures prevent you from taking to the water, you’ll prefer the mild Andalusian weather! The peak winds are sufficient for 4 or 5 sessions a week.

Low season in Tarifa: September to January
As the temperature is fairly pleasant all year round and the wind blows more or less constantly, it’s possible to organise your kite trip to Tarifa even in winter during the low season!
In low season, the average wind speed is 11 knots, but this varies greatly over the course of a week. So there can be days with very good conditions as well as days with no wind at all.
The water temperature is mild all year round, so if you can’t kite every day, you can always try your hand at other water sports such as surfing or wakeboarding.
