300km downwind for advanced levels
One of the best Downwinds this team has ever done. Conditions were perfect, except for the first few days, but that got everyone ready for the downwind launch.
A slight lack of waves on some days, but optimal wind all along the coast followed our team and our guests! Now that we’ve covered the only two negative points, let’s move on to the positive and describe this unique trip offered by our team!
Welcome to Dakhla, a kitesurfing paradise where the desert meets the ocean: waves and wind, one of the best spots in the world!
The organisation :
For about a year, Mitu and Ghali, the two organisers, battled to come up with a new concept. It’s true that downwinds already existed, but they were aiming for something bigger and better. The Covid pandemic completely blocked these plans, but after this episode the DownWind objective was reborn from the ashes!
Ghali put a lot of work into organising it, and came to a conclusion: to set off from Dakhla, the capital of kitesurfing, and arrive in Senegal! On the programme, 300 kilometres of DownWind over 6 days.
Flora and fauna :
Throughout the downwind, our guests and our team were able to enjoy some magnificent scenery, with white sandy beaches, turquoise and dark blue waters, dunes and cliffs, and to be able to observe all this while kiting and having maximum fun, gives you unequalled sensations. Each day the scenery changed and our guests were ever more impatient to see what the following days would hold in store for them. Crossing the Tropic of Cancer remains a key moment of this DownWind.
Feedback :
Coming from New York I wasn’t expecting this at all! It was a marvellous week, with breathtaking landscapes in the desert, an atmosphere I find mystical and to do it kitesurfing adds an absolutely incredible dimension. There really was a great atmosphere
