Kitesurf School Cotillo, Fuerteventura
Often referred to as Europe's answer to Hawaii, the Canary Islands have some of the best and most consistent kitesurfing spots in Europe all year round. Its northern tip is ideally exposed to the west, north and east, making it a paradise for learning to kitesurf as there is always a spot exposed to small swells, or conversely, a fallback spot, when the swell is strong.
Many people say that Fuerteventura is the jewel in the crown of the Canary Islands. It is the second largest island in the Canaries, after Tenerife. It is still quite unspoilt and quiet, although its popularity increases every year. During the winter months, the beautiful Canary Island of Fuerteventura is lit up by a swell from the Atlantic, which creates excellent waves for everyone from beginners to expert surfers.

Remember to book in advance because in summer and during school holidays, slots are taken over 7 days and there is no room for last minute bookings.
What to bring for my kitesurfing lesson ?
We provide the equipment, the instructor. Just bring a swimming costume to wear under your wetsuit, a towel, a change of clothes, sun cream and a bottle of water.
What time are the lessons ?
We run the courses about 2 hours before and after low tide
on normal tides of 50/70. It can be more with lower tides but in any case,
we organize ourselves the groups according to the ages and the levels
in order to give you the greatest possible satisfaction.
We will call you back 48 hours (approximately) before the day of the course to give you your lesson time according to the tides but also to the "reliable swell and weather forecasts".
Kitesurf Lessons
Our kitesurfing course lasts about 4 hours per day (drive to the beach, warm up and lots of time in the water). We meet at our kitesurfing school in the morning or early afternoon (depending on tides and weather conditions) - then our instructor takes the group to the right beach for their level.
Beginner level
This course is open to anyone who wants to learn to kitesurf. You don't need to have any previous experience to join.
Day 1: You will learn all about safety and its importance in this sport. Then we will guide you through the preparation of the equipment, the take off and landing of the kite, and finally the piloting of the kite in the air. You will learn all about the wind window, the power zone and also how to control the kite with one hand.
Day 2: You will use more powerful kites and discover the towed kite in the water. You will be shown how to relaunch the kite while in the water. Once you have mastered the handling of the kite in the water, it is time for the board. You will then learn how to handle the board and the kite at the same time. Finally, you will learn the waterstart, get on the board and do some meters!
The second day of the course will be in open water with the assistance of a boat and radio helmets.
Intermediate level
This course is open to people with good kite control skills on land who want to experience kitesurfing in the water. As on the second day of the Discovery course, you will be shown how to control the kite in the water, how to tow and finally how to start.
People who are already confident in towed swimming and want to practice their waterstart technique further may also be interested in this course.
This course will be done with the assistance of a boat and radio headsets.
