Morocco: The best surfing spots
Surfing seminar in Hossegor with Cédric Giscos
Essaouira is well known for its surfing and kitesurfing, although it’s not exactly a kitesurfing paradise like Dakhla.
OceanAdventure offers you an authentic stay with Moroccans, where our values are put forward: education and quality of infrastructure.
Essaouira is a destination for water sports enthusiasts, as the surf and kitesurf spots are accessible to beginners.
Kite surfing while camels stare at you from the beach is a unique experience, as is watching the sun dip into the ocean. The colours are so special in this part of Africa that you’ll be dazzled.
The Bay Spot
This is the main kitesurfing spot in Essaouira, opposite our Kite Camp.
It’s a great wave spot, with a side-on wind where the gusts are stopped by the medina to the north of the spot and the camels, which add a touch of folklore!
Sidi Kaouki spot
Located 20km south of Essaouira, Sidi Kaouki beach is renowned for its beauty.
You can admire the spot from the hills where our Kite Camp is located.
The wind is steadier here than in Essaouira and it’s not usually crowded.
Diabat spot
A constant side-on wind, breathtaking scenery with the remains of Dar Soltane to the north and the wind turbines to the south.
10km of unobstructed beach. Although it’s a favourite with everyone, this also makes it the ideal spot for beginners.
It’s the ideal place to gently get back into the kiteboarding swing of things.
