Kitesurfing in Jericoacoara: everything you need to know

5 essential tips for kitesurfing beginners
Consistent winds, golden dunes, turquoise lagoons… Jericoacoara is the perfect setting for our family kitesurfing adventure. Between sessions, the idea isn’t to “pack” the holiday full, but to live it: alternating between free time, short paid excursions and simple experiences that leave a lasting impression. Here, each activity is chosen to suit your group (teens looking for fun, parents in chill mode, families keen to explore) to preserve the energy of the sessions and the magic of the spot. And because we’re committed to preserving these landscapes, we prioritise well-supervised outings and responsible behaviour whilst we’re there.

4) Pedra Furada (free)
A short walk along the coast to the iconic rock arch. Best done at low tide to keep it easy and safe.
5) Sandboarding on the dunes (extra charge)
The ultimate “teen-friendly” activity: instant thrills, guaranteed laughter, and it doesn’t require you to be particularly fit.
6) Sunset horse ride (extra charge)
A truly picture-perfect experience, quintessentially “Jeri”. A lovely alternative for days when the family fancies a low-key activity.
7) Stroll through the centre of Jeri (free)
Lively little streets, açaí, music, crafts: perfect at the end of the day when the wind dies down and everyone gathers together.

8) Tatajuba: dunes and lagoons (entrance fee applies)
A more “adventurous” 4×4 trip: stunning scenery, a wilder atmosphere. Well worth a go if you’ve already been to Lagoa do Paraíso.
9) Sunset photo/video session (free)
Between the dunes, the beach and the narrow streets, you’ve got everything you need to put together a “family + kitesurfing trip” mini-album without spending a penny. Tip: keep it to 20 minutes max so the teenagers don’t get fed up.
10) Stargazing (free)
With little light pollution, a simple evening stroll along the beach becomes one of the highlights of your stay.
5 things not to do in Jericoacoara
- Arriving without cash: limited ATMs, which are sometimes out of order.
- Underestimating the wind and sun: sunglasses, sun cream, lycra, and plenty of water.
- Hiring a buggy or quad bike without insurance: dunes and soft sand = risks and trouble.
- Going to Pedra Furada at high tide: you’ll put yourself in a difficult situation for nothing.
- Overbooking your schedule: the combination of kitesurfing and the heat takes its toll quickly. Keep things “slow”.
