La Gravière Surf School, Hossegor
Our surf school is located on La Gravière beach in Hossegor. You don't have to carry any heavy equipment - you're right on the beach!
La Gravière, a surf spot for beginners and experts alike!
This surf spot is located 3 minutes' walk north of La Centrale beach, at the end of the concrete promenade and at the entrance to the dunes. It's a world-class spot, as it frequently hosts a world championship event, and is home to experienced surfers as well as beginners and intermediates. During heavy swells, the spectacle of surfers in action is well worth the diversions.
In summer, when the swell is low, our lessons take place on a sandbank 5 minutes‘ walk from the hut to the north, towards the ’culs nus’ spot, the beach to the north of Hossegor.
These waves, ideal for intermediates, break right and left, so you can learn to surf both ways: from the front and from the back of the wave. This will delight goofies (left foot behind) as well as regulars (right foot behind).
For beginners, we'll teach you how to get up on waves that have already broken, in the foam, in places where you'll have feet.
Hossegor is a spot that works very well in both light and heavy swells.

Where can you learn to surf in Hossegor?
Is the bare-ass beach the most dangerous? The answer to all these questions is very simple: in Hossegor, almost all the schools go surfing in the same place. On the north beach when there's very little swell, on the south beach when there's a lot. Is it dangerous? If you're not familiar with the currents, take a surf lesson - your teacher will guarantee maximum safety!
