Ocean Beach

Anglet’s Plage de l’Océan is one of the relatively unspoilt beaches. To the right of the beach, near the first-aid post, is an old blockhouse from the last war. This beach is supervised during the summer season.

From the footbridge (linking the different beaches of Anglet), you have a magnificent view of the ocean. For parking, there is a car park on the Avenue de l’Océan.

According to the locals, if you head towards Les Landes and the neighbouring Dunes beach, you’ll find naturist areas behind the golf course (although this is prohibited, it is tolerated).

Dunes Beach

Lège-Cap Ferret

Dunes Beach is located a few hundred metres south of Plage de l’Horizon.

As its name suggests, the dune is longer here. There are no duckboards to make walking easier. Allow 10 minutes’ walk to reach the beach.

However, the path through the pines and the dune is magnificent! In fact, it crosses the dune primer joining the point. The view of the Cap Ferret lighthouse is one of the best on the peninsula.

Once you’re on the beach, you’re bound to find it quieter than the Horizon beach. You can sunbathe in peace and quiet, but beware: there is no lifeguard on duty. The safest thing to do is walk 5-10 minutes north-north towards the Truc Vert bathing area.

There are a few vendors selling drinks, doughnuts and ice creams, but don’t expect to find sandwich stands and deckchairs like at L’Horizon.

Les Corsaires

Located close to La Madrague beach, the Corsaires spot is renowned for its fast, hollow waves. It offers sections ideal for aerial manoeuvres and acrobatic tricks. Surfers who love thrills will be delighted at Les Corsaires, where the adrenalin is always pumping.

Marinella Beach

Marinella beach is located to the north of Anglet town centre, next to the Sables d’Or beach. Access is via avenue des Mailhouns. It is supervised during the summer with a lifeguard post. This large sandy beach is a continuation of the other beaches in Anglet. Many surfers come here all year round to find the perfect wave. Parking is available at the entrance. If you’re looking for excellent food, the Marinella restaurant at the end of the beach offers spectacular cuisine.

Lighthouse of the Chambre d’Amour

If you continue your walk along the coast, you will come to the Chambre d’Amour lighthouse. This charming white and red lighthouse offers panoramic views of the beach and ocean. You can climb to the top to admire the spectacular view and take some memorable photos.

The Fishermen’s Port

Located close to the beach, the Brise-lames marina is an authentic place where you can watch the fishing boats return with their precious cargo. You can stroll along the harbour, watch the fishermen at work and even buy fresh fish directly from them.

The Jardins de la Chambre d’Amour

Continuing southwards, you’ll come to the beach at Petite Chambre d’Amour. This spot offers a variety of waves, suitable for different levels of surfers. Biarritz lighthouse

Although it’s not directly on the beach at Anglet, the Biarritz lighthouse is another local treasure not to be missed. You can get to the lighthouse by continuing your walk along the coast. From up there, you’ll have an unbeatable panoramic view of the Basque coast.

How do I get there?

Access by bike: secure bike parking and self-service electric bikes

The town of Anglet is offering free bike storage at Les Sables d’Or and La Barre from 8 July to 27 August 2023.

Self-service electric bikes:

A self-service electric bike hire scheme will be set up by the company Pony from June. In Anglet, 120 bikes will be available, spread over 27 spaces.

Access by car: paying car park

This year, parking at Anglet’s beach car parks will be subject to a charge from 1 July to 31 October , except for residents of Anglet. There will be short-term (red zone) and long-term (yellow zone) car parks.

Paid parking will be available from 9am to 7pm every day, including weekends and public holidays.

Access by bus & free shuttles

Bus routes 32, 34, 36 and 38 serve Anglet’s beaches. Route 34, which runs from Sutar to the Madrague, Corsaires, Marinella, Sables d’Or and Petite Chambre d’Amour beaches, will run every 15 minutes from 11am between Minerva and Chambre d’Amour. It will run every day from 6.30am to midnight (last departure from the beaches) to ensure connections with the network’s night-time services, in particular the T1 trambus service, which operates 24 hours a day in July and August.

Line 38 will serve Chambre d’Amour and La Barre and will offer the widest range of timetables, operating from 6.30am to 3am. You can catch a bus every 6 minutes to Chambre d’Amour on routes 32, 34 and 38, and a bus every 10 minutes to La Barre on routes 36 and 38.

The public transport service to the beaches has been strengthened. There will be 12 free park-and-ride sites along the routes of bus routes 32, 34, 36 and 38 of the Txik Txak network serving the coast. You’ll be able to park at these park-and-ride sites to catch the bus and get to the beaches more easily.
