Within the space, there's low poolside seating for friends and couples, and a standing bar for those who want to chat while sipping cocktails and nibbling tacos. While The Backyard may not be a dusty, cactus-filled garden in Mexico, the local produce and dedication to flavour more than make up for it!

This is an honest to goodness Baja Mexican restaurant where you won't find any Sri Lankan-mex clichés - just authentic tasting tacos, ice cold beers, spicy mango margaritas and a simple but modern Boho setting where jokes and good vibes are guaranteed to flow .
The Backyard is adamant about keeping our food offering small and delicious - with no dish here acting solely as menu filler. You'll have a simple choice of six tacos: Baja Pescado, Calamares, Ceviche, Pollo Picante, Crispy Cauliflower and Sweet Potato Tempura. All these delights are served on hand-pressed corn tortillas, which means zero gluten for you, compadre! At the same time, there's a fresh and ever-changing Pequeno menu, including crispy Tostadas that the team are delighted to share with you and your friends.

"I had an excellent stay at the Salty Pelican in Sri Lanka. The rooms are nice and the beds in the shared rooms are comfortable. The shared bathrooms are also clean and fresh. The staff are very nice, friendly and helpful with any questions. I travelled here solo, and many other guests did too. So it was easy to meet and get to know new people.
The yoga terrace is incredible, peaceful and surrounded by jungle on three sides (the 4th is the pool). The yoga teacher Carla is so nice - I really enjoyed her classes and felt very safe practising yoga with her.
The best food is the breakfast and the taco - quesadillas with mushrooms is yum!"

COLOMBO Airport
- We can book you a very comfortable and direct air-conditioned car/van transfer from the airport directly to the Luxury Yoga Retreat.
- When you arrive in the town of Dikwella, turn right onto the clearly marked (blue sign) Pehebiya road which is only 80m after passing the "Southern Food
- City" supermarket on your right. Our property is along this road and half way up the hill.
- Airport - Colombo Fort, Journey time: 40 minutes by Taxi
- Colombo Fort - Wewurukannala Train, Journey time: 3.5 hours
- Wewurukannala to Luxury Yoga Retreat, Travel time: 10 min by Tuk Tuk

Exploring Hiriketiya is a voyage of discovery. On the one hand, there's the tropical beach which has a distinct laid-back surfer vibe - with its perfect beginner surf and cosy beach bars in the sand selling watermelon daiquiris, where the fresh catch of the day is always brought ashore by the local fishermen.
Yoga
Discover revitalising and dynamic yoga sequences in the morning, followed by meditation sessions in the afternoon and gentle afternoon classes in restorative Yin yoga.
