La Côte des Basques Surf School, Biarritz
Our surf school is located on the Côte Des Basques beach in Biarritz. You don't have to carry any heavy equipment - you're right on the beach!
The Côte des Basques, a surf spot for beginners and intermediates!
This surf spot is very popular with beginners and longboarders alike, as the waves are very gentle and sheltered from the northerly winds. There's usually one peak near Villa Beltza and another a little further down the beach, opposite the steps. Although it's nice and fun for beginners up to 1 metre of waves, there's more power at 1m50 / 2 metres, especially if you're heading south.
The islets off Villa Beltza filter the swell a little, but it's mainly a summer spot that's still playable in the afternoon. Super popular with surfers from all over the world, surf schools and holidaymakers, everyone has to leave when the beach disappears with the high tide.

Ideally situated on the beach of the Côte des Basques, you'll enjoy a top quality surf lesson and spend 1h30 in the water!
Remember to book in advance, because in summer and during the school holidays, slots are taken over 7 days and there's no room for last-minute bookings. We can, however, pick up latecomers by bus and take them 15 minutes away to Bidart!
What should I bring for my surf lesson?
We provide the board, wetsuit, instructor and transport if the ocean is stormy and you have to leave the site to go to a fallback spot. Just bring a swimming costume to wear under your wetsuit, a towel, a change of clothes and a bottle of water.
What time are lessons?
We organise lessons about 2 hours before and after low tide.
with normal coefficients of 50/70. It can be more with lower coefficients, but in any case,
we organise the groups ourselves according to age and level
in order to give you the greatest possible satisfaction. We'll call you back 48 hours before D-day to give you your lesson time, depending on the tides and reliable swell and weather forecasts.
