The holiday runs from Sunday to Sunday. Surf camp Ahangama

Our surf house in Ahangama is located just 200 meters from Kabalana Beach, one of the most famous surf spots in Sri Lanka. Kabalana Beach is surrounded by a fascinating landscape of white sandy beaches, clear blue water and tall palm trees. Hidden in this exotic vegetation are numerous local restaurants, beach bars and surf shops, all passionate about the surf lifestyle and sharing positive vibes. Immerse yourself in a warm and welcoming atmosphere for a great surf vacation surrounded by big waves and great people.

Bar and Restaurant 

Bar : Every evening, as the sun goes down, head to the rooftop for a cocktail apero!
We offer beer, wine and cocktails at low prices (from 2€ to 5€), so you can relax after a busy day!

Restaurant : We'll make sure you experience local Sri Lankan cuisine, including a variety of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Don't worry, whatever your requirements, we'll do our best to meet them.

Access

Colombo airport

  • Surf camp driver : Our driver will collect you from the airport (at any time).
    It takes about 2h30
    Price = 65€/car
  • Airport taxi : Download the "Pick Me" app on your phone and order a driver. A taxi at the airport will charge you a minimum of $100 for the journey.
    Journey time is approximately 2h30.
    Price = 20k to 30k rupees/car (50€ to 75€)
  • Train or bus : You will need to take several different buses and trains to reach Ahangama by public transport.
    It takes around 6 hours
    Price = 2k rupees (5€)

Surf Guiding Package

Only for experienced independent surfers with their own surf equipment!You don't need surf lessons and just want to surf different spots with a local surf guide to show you the spots!

Our local surfer will take you to different beaches every day (Monday to Friday / one session per day). You'll surf on your own and our local guide will be waiting outside the water to take you back. The package includes transfers to various beaches in the Ahangama region and a 2-hour session.

The 5 best surf spots in Ahangama, Sri Lanka

1Kabalana Beach
Kabalana beach is a beach break for all levels. This spot is great for beginners to practise pop-ups in the foam. Kabalana beach is also suitable for beginner surfers.
2The Rock
The Rock is a reef that offers consistent waves that are easy to get in and out of via Kabalana beach. This spot has an incredible A-frame, which some even call the best in Sri Lanka! The lefts are perfect for advanced surfers while the rights are good for intermediate surfers. However, this is not a good place for beginner surfers. The best time to ride the waves at The Rock is during the winter season.
3Sticks
This spot is also a reef, so it's a perfect place for intermediate and advanced surfers. It's also possible for beginner surfers but it's best to go with a surf instructor, as it's not very easy to get in and out of the water because of the rocks. The rides here are quite fast, so beginner surfers can sit comfortably on the beach and stay out of the water. Sticks has great waves with multiple peaks, with lefts and rights. But be careful as this spot has parts with shallow reefs.
4Insight/Marshmallow
This place is called Marshmallow for a reason; there are lots of gentle waves here. You'll get long, smooth rides along the waves all the way to the reef. This spot is also called "Insight", and is one you can't miss if you go to Ahangama. It's super easy to get in and out via a little beach near the Insight hotel. Here there are different peaks, lefts and rights. It's a perfect place to practise surfing in small, light swells. When the swell gets bigger, this spot is no longer suitable for beginners. It's a good spot for intermediate and advanced surfers, and for beginners too, but with a surf teacher. But watch out for the rocks! This spot is not suitable for beginner surfers.
5Gas station
As the name suggests, this spot is right opposite a petrol station. Here you'll find lefts and rights. It's easy to get in and out via a small beach near the bridge. Be aware that this is an area with shallow reefs, so watch out! Beginners can go with a surf instructor but never alone. It's a good spot for intermediate and advanced surfers.
