The surf camp was built in 1920 as a traditional Portuguese family retreat and remains the most spectacular and architecturally comfortable property in the area. Its large rooms and grounds not only offer superb panoramic views of the Silver Coast, but also the perfect place to relax and unwind with family and friends and enjoy a full surfing holiday.

Casa Grande

Casa Grande is the main house in the middle of our property, with all 5 bedrooms offering spectacular coastal views. No other house in the area is in a position like the Surfcastle; we offer the best location in Baleal. Since 1922, the house has been used as a family holiday home for many decades and much of the original fixtures and fittings still exist to this day, making Casa Grande an authentic, vintage Portuguese experience.

Casa da Guarda

Casa da Guarda is located adjacent to the main house and offers perfect accommodation for groups and families, offering independent living in a charming 3 bedroom house. Guests of the small house have access to all the facilities of the main house. The house has an interesting history - it was used by the Portuguese National Guard ("guarda") as a lookout on the coastline, who wanted to take advantage of the house's privileged location to combat police smuggling and other illegal activities.

Top Floor

The Surfcamp team is very proud to present our two new panoramic Penthouse suites in the top floor of the main house. Recently, we have renovated and redecorated the top floor of the Surfcamp main house and transformed it into two very spacious and elegant rooms. Both rooms can accommodate up to 4 people each with total privacy and comfort with the most amazing views. These new premium accommodations are perfect for families, small groups, couples and solo travelers who like to share the Surfcamp atmosphere but want a little more privacy and space.

Garden Studios

The studios are located within the surfcamp property right next to the main house and offer private accommodation perfect for families, couples and small groups. The modern and stylish flats offer independent living with west facing windows that catch the sun all day. Our studios offer complete privacy with your own kitchen and bathroom, and studio guests still have access to all the facilities of the main house.

Surf

Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced surfer, we can find the right surf coaching method for you.
Pedro, the surf school's head coach, has been training surf students for over 15 years and has been surfing regularly in Baleal since he was 10 years old.
All our teachers are experienced local surfers and are FPS approved.

Our passionate and motivated instructors are waiting for you at the school to organise your time on the slopes.
