The sea view baleal surf camp was built in 1920 as a traditional Portuguese family retreat and remains the most spectacular and architecturally comfortable property in the area. Its large rooms and grounds not only offer superb panoramic views of the Silver Coast, but also the ideal place to relax and unwind with family and friends and enjoy a complete surfing holiday.
Master bedroom in the Casa Grande (main building)
Casa Grande is the main house at the heart of our property, with all five bedrooms offering spectacular views of the coastline. No other house in the area enjoys a location like the Surf House; we offer the best spot in Baleal. Since 1922, the house has served as a family holiday home for many decades, and much of the original furniture remains to this day, making Casa Grande an authentic, vintage Portuguese experience.

Room at Casa da Guarda
Casa da Guarda is situated next to the main Surf House and offers the perfect accommodation for groups and families, providing self-catering accommodation in a charming three-bedroom house. Guests staying in the cottage have access to all the facilities in the main house. The house has an interesting history – it was used by the Portuguese National Guard (“guarda”) as a coastal lookout post, taking advantage of the house’s prime location to combat smuggling and other illegal activities.
Garden Studios
The studios are located within the grounds, right next to the main house, and offer private accommodation that is perfect for families, couples and small groups. The modern, stylish apartments offer self-catering accommodation with west-facing windows that catch the sun all day long. Our studios offer complete privacy with your own kitchen and bathroom, and studio guests always have access to all the facilities in the main house

Surf
Whether you're a beginner, intermediate or advanced surfer, we can find the right surf coaching method for you.
Pedro, the surf school's head coach, has been training surf students for over 15 years and has been surfing regularly in Baleal since the age of 10.
All our teachers are experienced local surfers and are FPS accredited.
We use the best surf equipment and our surf coaches are highly qualified to give you the best surfing experience. And we'll always make sure your progress matches the surfboard you choose.
Our surf coaches will film your best waves, and after the surf school lessons we'll analyse and correct your mistakes in the comfort of the surf camp lounge.
We know how addictive surfing can be, so once you're ready, we'll encourage you to get out and enjoy the freedom of catching waves on your own using our surf equipment.
Our Adventures
There are plenty of enjoyable activities around the surf camp, in addition to surfing, to make the most of your holiday. If you’re looking for different activities, a member of the surf camp team can organise them for you.
FISHING TRIPS
This area is very fishy and we are friends with some of the local fishermen who can organise first class fishing sessions.
