This is an authentic Mexican cantina in the heart of Baja California, where the atmosphere is pure surf and the flavours are authentic. No clichés here, just tasty tacos, cold beers and spicy mango margaritas, all in a simple but modern bohemian decor. This is the place to relax with a margarita in hand, lulled by the sea breeze.

The interior offers a covered area for friends and couples, while outside by the pool, sun loungers invite lively conversation over cocktails and tacos in a tropical atmosphere. Although The Backyard is not a dusty garden in Mexico, the atmosphere of the tropical pool and the authenticity of the flavours immediately transport you to the Mexican sun.

Enjoy panoramic views, light music in the background, reading in the sun on our sun loungers or relaxing with a drink. The roof terrace offers relaxing sunsets after yoga and surfing. In the mornings and evenings, there's a convivial gathering with food and drink. Don't miss our FREE healthy buffet breakfast: fresh bread, fruit, yoghurt, hummus, jams, muesli, nuts, cheeses, chorizo, eggs, a variety of drinks. Lisbon airport

When you arrive in Peniche, you can either take a bus to Baleal and our property is just a short walk away. Alternatively, the quickest and most convenient option is to take a taxi directly to the surfcamp in just a few minutes by car.
Take the A8 motorway and continue north towards Leiria/Porto. Exit onto the IP6 slip road and head towards Peniche. Before entering the centre of Peniche you will see the large RIP CURL surf shop on the right hand side of a roundabout, turn right here and head towards Baleal. You'll find The Salty Pelican on the right hand side, just a few minutes drive down this road.
