The Banyak Seriti boat, Boat Trip Mentawai Indonesia
"Seriti", a 25m Indonesian-flagged aluminium crew boat built in the USA, has been fully customised for surf charter operations in Sumatra. The Seriti can accommodate up to 14 passengers. There are 12 beds comprising 2 double beds and 10 king single beds, each with power socket and reading lamp. Comfortable interior sprung beds throughout with two air-conditioned cabins and separate quarters accommodating up to 6 crew. Spacious and comfortable, she has an air-conditioned saloon with two large sofas, tables and a TV/video/music entertainment area.
The Seriti
At the stern of the boat is a huge covered deck where you can watch the action in the water or head to the upper deck for a 360-degree view of the beautiful Banyak Islands, which are also wired for sound. The hammock option is also available.
The Seriti is one of the safest Mentawai surf charters operating in Indonesia, with a full suite of equipment including life rafts and life jackets, smoke detectors, EPIRB; CO2 emergency fire system; VHF and SSB radios, satellite phone (available to guests for US$5/min) and a 10,000 litre fresh water tank. She has 2 CUMMINS NTA855M Turbo After cooler 350hp main engines operating at a maximum speed of 15 knots (cruising speed 10-12 knots).
There are also plenty of power sockets (240 V) on board for recharging your electronic devices. These are mainly Indo sockets, so make sure you bring the appropriate adapter for your electronic equipment.
Surf
There are around 90 islands in the Banyak island group, 50 paradise islands with jungle, palm trees and white sandy beaches, many of which are uninhabited. A number of islands are not exposed to the prevailing swell and most do not have a reef structure that allows surfable waves, those that do have incredible world-class waves that meander along the surrounding reefs. The most frequent breaks are around the islands of Tuangku and Bangkaru.
Fishing
Surf Banyak can cater for most dietary requirements. Please let us know when you fill in your customer information form. The fishing is excellent around the Banyaks, so you could be the one catching dinner! We have a number of rods, reels, spearguns and equipment on board. You are welcome to bring your own equipment. Surf Banyak always advises you to bring your own plotters and lures as it can be difficult for us to find them all the time.
