Our surf camp is housed in a spacious, modern building with a welcoming indoor communal area and an outdoor patio that opens onto lush tropical gardens.

All in all, Playa Avellanas is a surfer's paradise! The white sandy beach is surrounded by mangrove forests. What's more, the water temperature averages 27 degrees Celsius all year round, making wetsuits obsolete. You can enjoy a quiet break between two surf sessions under the palm trees.
As well as our excellent local surf spots, easily accessible on foot and suitable for all levels of ability, other hidden gems such as Playa Langosta, Playa Grande and Playa Negra (best known from the surf film Endless Summer II) are all within minutes of the camp.
Tamarindo is renowned as the party capital of the Guanacaste region. If you fancy a big party after surfing, we can arrange a shuttle bus to take you there in 20 minutes so you don't have to worry about driving after a few drinks.

We love food almost as much as we love surfing. We offer international recipes as well as local specialities in our camps. Daily breakfast and dinner from Sunday to Thursday are included in the room rate. No need to worry about going hungry during your surfing holiday! Our menu contains a variety of dishes for meat lovers and vegetarians and we can cater for all diets.
Location
Our surf school in Costa Rica is located in one of the most versatile and consistent spots in Central America. Of course, the waves here at Playa Avellanas can be incredibly easy to surf. On the other hand, they can also offer more challenging waves when the swell is strong.

Depending on your place of arrival, we offer the following options:
1) Pick up from Liberia airport (Costa Rica) for up to 4 people - with our driver in a new, safe and comfortable 4×4 vehicle
2) Pick up from Tamarindo bus stop - with our driver in a new, safe and comfortable 4×4 vehicle. All transfers from Costa Rica can be booked online but must be paid in cash directly at the surf camp.

Surf School
Playa Avellanas, probably the best surf spot on Costa Rica's Pacific coast, awaits you. With no tourists, wide sandy beaches, turquoise water and perfect waves, this camp really is a hidden gem. In fact, you'll be living in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by unspoilt nature, just a stone's throw from the beach, yet only a few kilometres from the legendary Tamarindo.
In the immediate vicinity of our surf school, there are also five other spots: La Purruja, El Parqueo, El Palo, El Estero de Avellanas and Little Hawaii. Each of these spots is different, some breaking on a rocky bottom and others on a combination of reef and sand. As a result, they are more suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. What's more, we're also just a short drive from world-class surf spots such as Playa Negra, Langosta and Playa Grande.
